My Kinda Party (9.10.11)

As a part of my Country Megaticket I went to the Jason Aldean concert with my friend Sloan. I went into the concert expecting a lot, and I was left dissapointed.

Thompson Square kicked off the night with their act that featured one popular song. After they preformed Chris Young took the stage. He was amazing; I think I may have enjoyed him more than Jason. Chris did a lot of songs from his newest album, but they were all very easy to catch on to and sing along. He also did some of his most popular songs and a cover song. Now usually I hate cover songs, but Chris didn't do a country song which is what I enjoyed. He sang Sharp Dressed Man (Originally by ZZ Top) and put a country spin on it. It was great!

In between acts there was a DJ. This is a concept that was not at any of the other concerts and frankly I didn't like it. He would cut songs off right in the middle and add unnessecary sound effects. At one point however, he played Don't Stop Believing by Journey, and the audience went nuts. At least 60% of the people there had their lighters out. It was pretty cool and I had never seen anything like it.

Jason came on stage with a big entrance, but it didn't stay that energetic. His preformance lacked special effects. There were big screen behind him, but they didn't use them as much as they could have. Even though his act wasn't as entertaining as others, it was still very good. I have been to six concerts this summer, so every single one has to be as good as the one before that, and that's not an easy task. I did like Jason's setlist. My favorite songs were Big Green Tractor, Texas Was You, and Dirt Road anthem. He played Hicktown, but changed the rhythm and beat to it, which I hated. I had a great time because the concert atmosphere is one of a kind and it's hard not to enjoy it.
