RAVE! (9.16.11)

Are you blinded yet? Football games always go along with crazy themes and this week happened to be one that I pushed really hard for. NEON RAVE! I have been wanting to do this one since I got these ridiculously neon Nike running shorts. The point of this theme is that if the whole student section wears neon, we will glow. If it hadn't been such an icky cold day then more people would have participated. My friends and I went all out though.

I wore my brothers neon lacrosse penny with a neon sports bra underneath. I wore my neon running shorts with some hot pink tights and my 80's style black and hot pink Reebok Freestyle Hi shoes. There was no way a car was going to hit me that night! Augusta, next to me, wore a similar outfit to mine. Sydney didn't have any neon when she arrived at my house, but a quick trip to Goodwill fixed that when she found a neon green blazer! Carly had a neon t-shirt on and some ridiculous socks. Kennedy's outfit may have been the most controversial; she found my old cheerleading uniform in my closet. It fit the theme perfectly! It was glittery and neon, but the cheerleader were mad because she was a "wannabe." Psh, Sloan set them straight for us.

This game was very important because it was a memorial game for Coach D. Coach D was an athletic director and coach at a middle school and Apex High School, who we were playing. We all wore yellow ribbons in his honor and had a service for him before the game. It was very touching and meaningful. It also showed that you can come together with rival schools. It was perfect timing considering all the vandalism Cary High School had done that week.

We won the game and took over the number one spot in our conference since Cary lost to Fuguay.

Intense Puppy Fight! (9.15.11)

I babysat Ben and Sophie today. It was a pleasant surprise when I arrived and their grandparent's dog, Lizzie, was there. Lizzie is a RED labrador retriever. She is from some northern state; her breed is usually used for police dogs, seeing eye dogs, and hunting dogs. You can defiantly tell that she is a smart dog. Her owner hides the paper every morning and she finds it in less than a minute. She can also go get the mail, and she has a list of commands that she follows. I laughed out loud when I read this list.

Well, the people I babysit have two dogs of their own. Earnest T Bass is a one year old French Bulldog and Zoe is a sixteen year old beagle. We call Zoe the gramma dog because she just sleeps all day and stays out of trouble.

When Earnest and Lizzie get together, it's a riot! Earnest always starts the fights which cracks me up because he is so much smaller than Lizzie. They just sit there growl at each other and try to get on top of the fight. Earnest is usually losing, so he takes refuge underneath the couch or ottoman; it's his only defense.

They may be wild dogs, but they are so sweet. When you call one of them they drop the fight and come and sit next to you. However, they get very jealous, especially if you pet Zoe. Lizzie and the kid I babysit, Ben, are very good friends. Ben is very good at making the dogs go nuts, but he always ends up getting knocked out of the fight.
After the kids went to bed, the dogs calmed down a ton. They were pooped so they fell asleep on the couch. The first time they fell asleep I had one on each side of me and both of their heads on my lap. I am so disappointed that I didn't have my phone and no one else was awake to take a picture, but I did get a picture of them sleep together on the couch without me.

Guilt Free Dessert (9.14.11)

I got a coupon in the mail with a flyer announcing Bath and Body Works newest Bake Shop home fragrance collection. When I saw this I got super excited because that meant that my favorite candle was back in stock. I went over after school to pick up a few things. I got a large candle, two small candles, and a room spray.

This is my absolute favorite scent Bath and Body Works has ever made! They hit it right over the head and got the scent perfect. If you were to put chocolate chip cookies in the oven right now that would be the smell that this candle and room spray is. It's so sweet and satisfies my sweet tooth.

The top candle is S'mores. It has a marshmallowy scent with a hint of chocolate and possibly a bit of cinnamon. The bottom one is Cinnamon Sugar Donut; it may be my new favorite. I have had it for a week and already burnt half of it. It doesn't smell like a donut, but it reminds me of a bakery with a lot of cinnamon. However, the cinnamon isn't over powering like the Cinnamon Sticks fragrance is. I am going to have to go back and buy the big version of this candle.

Two other fragrances that I enjoy, but only come out around this time of year are Mint Chocolate and Pumpkin Patch. The Mint Chocolate has a lot more of a chocolate scent then mint, but it is good when you're in the right mood. I still have most of that candle left over from last year. Pumpkin Patch smells exactly how it sounds; it has a distinct pumpkin pie scent with a little bit of cinnamon mixed in. Another fragrance that I smelled in the store and want to try is Pumpkin Caramel Latte, which reminds me a lot of pumpkin patch with a weaker pumpkin scent and more of a dessert type of scent. All of the scents are amazing and I will probably blow my next three paychecks on candles.

Boring Days in the Life of Clare (9.12.11 & 9.13.11)

One of the boringest Mondays of my life, but it was a beautiful full moon. I took these pictures at the same time. It was so pretty!

I had work and a ton of homework. I made almost six dollars in tips, and Greg was being stubborn and wouldn't take a picture. This is the best I could get for the day.

Winning! or not... (9.11.11)

Today was the start of the 2011 NFL football season! I live in North Carolina which means I never get to watch any of my team's games. I am a Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboy, and Houston Texans fan. I do realize those are kind of random, but I'm from Texas and have my allegiances to their two teams. Colt McCoy plays for the Browns and I have been a Colt McCoy fan since he played for Texas. I ordered his jersey the night he was drafted. I may just be the biggest Colt McCoy fan in the world! Unfortunately, the Browns and Cowboys gave up leads and lost their games, but the Texans came out with a win!

My Kinda Party (9.10.11)

As a part of my Country Megaticket I went to the Jason Aldean concert with my friend Sloan. I went into the concert expecting a lot, and I was left dissapointed.

Thompson Square kicked off the night with their act that featured one popular song. After they preformed Chris Young took the stage. He was amazing; I think I may have enjoyed him more than Jason. Chris did a lot of songs from his newest album, but they were all very easy to catch on to and sing along. He also did some of his most popular songs and a cover song. Now usually I hate cover songs, but Chris didn't do a country song which is what I enjoyed. He sang Sharp Dressed Man (Originally by ZZ Top) and put a country spin on it. It was great!
Thompson Square. (Sorry for the crappy pictures, I only brought my phone)
Chris Young (my phone pictures turn pink if I leave the cover on when it flashes)

In between acts there was a DJ. This is a concept that was not at any of the other concerts and frankly I didn't like it. He would cut songs off right in the middle and add unnessecary sound effects. At one point however, he played Don't Stop Believing by Journey, and the audience went nuts. At least 60% of the people there had their lighters out. It was pretty cool and I had never seen anything like it.
The lighters during Don't Stop Believing

Jason came on stage with a big entrance, but it didn't stay that energetic. His preformance lacked special effects. There were big screen behind him, but they didn't use them as much as they could have. Even though his act wasn't as entertaining as others, it was still very good. I have been to six concerts this summer, so every single one has to be as good as the one before that, and that's not an easy task. I did like Jason's setlist. My favorite songs were Big Green Tractor, Texas Was You, and Dirt Road anthem. He played Hicktown, but changed the rhythm and beat to it, which I hated. I had a great time because the concert atmosphere is one of a kind and it's hard not to enjoy it.

God Bless The USA!! (9.9.11)

Another dub for the Panther Creek Catamounts!! We played the Holly Springs Hawks on this wonderful Friday night. This was our first conference road game of the season, so I wasn't sure what to expect with attendance. To my pleasant surprise, we had a very decent crowd. Our theme was Patriotic to honor the victims of the September 11th attacks. Holly Springs came into this game with a winless record, but that was due to wins being revoked for having an ineligible player. Fortunately, we killed them 42-21. I left early in the fourth quarter because I had the ACT in the morning, but the score didn't change after I left. The Catamounts improved to 3-1 (2-0) on the season. GO CATS!

AMBER ALERT!! (9.8.11)

The Viking Helmet has been stolen!!!

Our school's student section leader wears a plastic viking hat that has been passed down from student section leader to student section leader. It is a symbol of our award winning student section. Unfortunately, there is a school who is still bitter about losing the student section and Tri-9 championships. I'll keep them nameless, but the school rhymes with harry and their mascot rhymes with wimps. Well, one of their students decided to steal the helmet during a volleyball game then get away on foot. And I know y'all are thinking 'it's just a helmet, what does it matter.' We are a very superstitious school and this was a big deal. The cops got involved and eventually the hat was returned. This is a picture of the Facebook post that started all of the drama. Our student section leader Jeff said: "Everybody! THIS SI AN ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY. the helmet has been stolen by John Blackwell of Cary High School. (sorry guess they can't remain nameless) He ran out of the gym with and went deep into the woods onto the other side of McCrimmon... there was no finding him at that point, it was so dark. Again, the helmet has been stolen. our school police officer is informed." This seems a little dramatic, but the 80 plus comments this received shows the school spirit that is embodied in every student at Panther Creek.

Cumulative Blog (9.5.11-9.7.11)

Happy Labor Day! I don't really know what Labor Day is celebrating, but it was nice to have the day off and get some work done. I started the day playing a 109 point word against Sloan in Words with Friends. Then I went to lunch with the family, and then I went on a sewing spree. I sewed a pencil pouch, fixed a different pencil pouch, sewed multiple keychains, and made a makeup brush roll for Kayla.

On Tuesday, we had an interesting day at school. I had a sub in Spanish, and then in English we had a lecture on college applications, but it was interrupted. It was nice and sunny outside when Rodney came on the announcements and announced a "serious issue." A tornado warning had been announced for Wake County. We had to go sit out in the hallway for over a half hour. It was a very uneventful day and I ended up in bed before 11 which is unheard of in high school especially on a night that I worked.

Wednesday was very boring. I went to school and babysat. The owner of Randy's Pizza told me that my shoes looked like they were from Aladin and that I ride a magic carpet to school. It was super random, and Carly and I couldn't stop laughing. The sunset was beautiful, and my phone takes surprisingly good pictures.

Dream Car Alert (9.4.11)

I have found my dream car! As a result of my fear of unprotected left turns I was detouring around a parking lot and stumbled across and 1960 Chevy Shortbed Pickup. It was beautiful, and the best part was that it was for sale. It was red, with the big letters on the tailgate, and the chains on the tailgate. IT IS PERFECT! I have wanted an old truck for quite some time, but for now I'm stuck in my dented up Hyundai Santa Fe. However, my dad is looking at getting a new truck because he hates his Tundra, so maybe I can push this one on him.

The Best Prom Ever (9.3.11)

Back in April, everyone was freaking out about Prom. My friend Sloan and I decided not to go due to our lack of date issue, so we joked around a lot about it. My birthday is at the end of April so for my birthday Sloan "asked" me to prom. However, it was not prom as in the dance, it was prom as in the Disney movie. To make a long long story short, we haven't gotten around to having our prom until now. The movie came out on DVD, so Sloan made it very official. She picked me up and came to the door and wouldn't let me go out to her car. When she came in she presented a "corsage," and my dad gave her the date talk (luckily he was not cleaning his gun). She also gave me a bag of Hershey Kisses since it that is a big part of the stereotypical prom and we couldn't do it for real. She took me out to dinner at a sports bar, so we could enjoy some opening weekend college football. HOOK 'EM HORNS by the way. After dinner, we headed back to her house to watch the movie and sleep over. The movie had by far some of the worst acting I've ever seen and it was super cheesy, but it was pretty spot on about how people act about prom.

She asked me by putting this on the windshield of my car.
The corsage.
Sloan is such a good date.

This is OUR HOUSE (9.2.11)

We are the comeback kings! Tonight may not have been a true comeback, but it was an impressive game. We played the Athens Drive Jaguars. It was our first Tri-9 conference game and we came out with the dub! We got on the board first with a field goal then a touchdown with a failed two point conversion. Right before the half Athens scored a touchdown, so we went in at the break with a two point lead.

In the second half, we scored then they scored; it was a back and fourth scoring. With less than three minutes left Athens scored to take the lead 20-16. Needless to say, we were nervous. The fans were going nuts. With about a minute left our quarterback couldn't find an open receiver, so he decided to run for the first time this season. It will most likely be one of his last; he made it out of bounds to stop the clock, but it took him a while to get up. We went one play without a qb and gained a few yards. Jordan came back in and we scored a touchdown. We were winning, but with less than a minute on the clock it was still possible for Athens to tie it up or even win. The student section was making the most noise they had all night and when the clock hit 0:00, we were so relieved. We rallied to win 23-20.

After the games, we always go to a local wing joint. The service isn't to great, but the environment is fun. The cops have been called on us the past two weeks for noise complaints from the apartments above the restaurant. If you rent an apartment above a sports bar you should be expecting a little noise, so don't have a fit about it. Overall it was a fun night.

The theme for the week was black out!

Two-Way Traffic is for Scrubs (9.1.11)

At school today, we had the annual student drivers lecture. Unfortunately, I received this lecture one on one with our lovely principal, Rodney, yesterday. My spot is on the very end of the first row of cars, but it is easiest for me to go down the second row and pull straight into my space. The rules state that you cannot create two-way traffic, and my method follows this rule because I do not drive down the first row at all. Well, apparently I was wrong. Rodney was creeping the parking lot, which is strange because he never leaves his office, and he happened to be lecturing a dumb founded junior when I pulled in. As I was getting my stuff out of the back and Carly was getting out of the passenger seat he walked up to me and asked who the driver was. Is he stupid? He saw me step out of the driver's side. For a man who is one of the top ten highest paid people in Wake County, he is rather slow. I got the lecture that I broke my driving contract and that he could take away my pass, blah blah blah. Today I heard it all again, and Jeff (he also got in trouble for the same thing) and I sat there worried we would be called out.

After school, Sloan coaxed me into going to the men's soccer game with her. They won, but I couldn't tell you anything about the game. However, I can tell you that I successfully gave myself a french manicure that I am quite proud of.
