Intense Puppy Fight! (9.15.11)

I babysat Ben and Sophie today. It was a pleasant surprise when I arrived and their grandparent's dog, Lizzie, was there. Lizzie is a RED labrador retriever. She is from some northern state; her breed is usually used for police dogs, seeing eye dogs, and hunting dogs. You can defiantly tell that she is a smart dog. Her owner hides the paper every morning and she finds it in less than a minute. She can also go get the mail, and she has a list of commands that she follows. I laughed out loud when I read this list.

Well, the people I babysit have two dogs of their own. Earnest T Bass is a one year old French Bulldog and Zoe is a sixteen year old beagle. We call Zoe the gramma dog because she just sleeps all day and stays out of trouble.

When Earnest and Lizzie get together, it's a riot! Earnest always starts the fights which cracks me up because he is so much smaller than Lizzie. They just sit there growl at each other and try to get on top of the fight. Earnest is usually losing, so he takes refuge underneath the couch or ottoman; it's his only defense.

They may be wild dogs, but they are so sweet. When you call one of them they drop the fight and come and sit next to you. However, they get very jealous, especially if you pet Zoe. Lizzie and the kid I babysit, Ben, are very good friends. Ben is very good at making the dogs go nuts, but he always ends up getting knocked out of the fight.
After the kids went to bed, the dogs calmed down a ton. They were pooped so they fell asleep on the couch. The first time they fell asleep I had one on each side of me and both of their heads on my lap. I am so disappointed that I didn't have my phone and no one else was awake to take a picture, but I did get a picture of them sleep together on the couch without me.
